La Rioja

There is only one thing on most peoples minds as they set off for La Rioja – the world famous wines. The town of Haro is the capital of the wine growing area and with its quaint centre is an ideal base for exploring the region. The capital Logroño is a well-to-do city ready for a good time, but the real attraction of La Rioja are the stunning vineyards. In comparison to other wine growing regions in Spain, La Rioja is well designed for visitors, with the majority of Bodegas running guided tours daily – some, however, are better than others.

La Rioja can also lay claim to being a vital area for dinosaur fossil remains and there a number of sites welcoming the visitor to learn about this unexpected trait of La Rioja’s past. But lets not kid ourselves, you’re here for wine, and a mighty fine choice you’ve made.
