Guide to Vigo – Introduction

Vigo isn’t anywhere near as bad as a number of writers and guide book authors would lead you to believe. It may not be the most attractive city in Spain, but it has a splendid location, a pleasant old town and a young, dynamic populace.

Sitting in a pleasant coastal setting opposite the stunning Islas Cíes (a handful of beautiful isalnds with magnificent beaches a short boat ride away), Vigo’s once almighty port still hosts a huge fishing fleet and this is reflected in the excellent seafood on offer in the Barrio de Berbes (the old town). Attracting a youthful crowd with it’s growing University, the city deserves at least a little of your time.
